Displayed at Newcomb College Center for research on Women (NCCROW) Library and Archive in 2008 and early 2009

"Varisco, in "Posture Mirror" re-enacts the ways Newcomb College women were trained in "good posture" and femininity. She provides a sort of memory film that mediates, frames, and connects its users and the current position of archive and viewers. In sheathing the mirror, Varisco foils the familiar identificatory experiences that occur in mirrors and instead reminds viewers of how these structures, and the actions of the observers looking and evaluating individuals' performances in gyms, bathrooms, and stores, produce normative gender, racial, and sexuality positions."
