I am a New Orleans artist who studies areas of the city and region that resonate loss and regeneration. My work is inspired by the poetry of Pablo Neruda, e.e. cummings, and the literature of Kate Chopin and Walker Percy. I’ve spent a lot of time adventuring into abandoned factories, rural areas of decay, and the City Park of New Orleans which was the genesis for my most recent body of work: Fragile Land.
Beyond creating photographs alone, I find the need to place the images into various objects in order to engage myself and the viewer in a new dialogue with image and meaning. Various processes and materials are employed such as painting photographic emulsion, polymer transfers, screen-printing and intaglio etching onto fabric, glass, metal and wood.
