Curator Jonathan Mayers has featured my work in the exhibition “Mitoloji Latannyèr/Mythologies Louisianaises.” Collaborating with artists and writers who have experienced cultural distance due to Americanization or physical location, as well as those who have embraced the cultures of the region, Mayers has woven artwork and stories narrated through Louisiana’s heritage languages. Exploring themes of environmental devastation and social justice, the exhibition’s creative partners, under the mantra “réklamé mañè-layé péyisaj maré yê ensemb” (reclaiming the ways in which the landscape binds them), extend an invitation to visitors to actively engage in this tribute to the state’s language, identity, and folklore.
The exhibition is highlighted in the latest issue of 64 Parishes: The Art of Language
Mitoloji Latannyèr/Mythologies Louisianaises will be on display through December 2024 at Capitol Park Museum, 440 N. Fourth Street, Baton Rouge.
